Hmmmm....... #GypsyRose........ Why was she not charged with second degree murder and sentenced as time served? She was essentially help prisoner and abused for 13 years. Her mother was killing her. Slowly. How is this not considered time served? How is this not self defense? In other cases, someone is abducted. They plan the murder over days/weeks/years and escape. That is self defense. Why is Gypsy's case different? Why is she in prison? What about mental health treatment?
On another note, what accountability was placed on the medical providers/police officers/DHS who failed to step in? There were medical reports of suspected Munchhausen By Proxy. Inconsistencies documented in the paper trail. Police officers who didn't follow up because mom had a good story. Literally, no help or way out. What do they get for allowing this to happen? The whole thing is VERY disturbing. It serves to highlight the unjust nature of our legal system. The poor quality medical systems we have. The lack of mental health understanding and treatment. The lack of safety nets or checks and balances to protect our most vulnerable citizens. I just can't fathom what that judge was thinking.
